Mr. Abul Hashem, the owner of the vehicle and a former leader of prominent political party Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its youth wing Jubo Dal, and his driver identified as Kamal Hossain were in the black Land Cruiser vehicle. Their vehicle was filled with petrol that was priced at Tk. 5,000.
After refueling, Hashem allegedly attempted to leave the station without paying for the fuel purchase. The CCTV footage clearly captured that Ripon desperately ran after the vehicle in an attempt to stop it and collect the payment because failure to do so would cost Ripon a hefty financial penalty. The owner of the gas station will deduct the price of the fuel from Ripon’s salary. The CCTV footage and eye witnesses captured that the vehicle rammed into him instead of stopping. The vehicle reportedly ran over Ripon leaving him critically injured at the spot. He succumbed to his injuries before help could arrive.
Hindu religious minorities are being rampantly attacked and killed in Bangladesh since August 2024 with direct and indirect support from the government. As a result, Muslims are increasingly encouraged and emboldened to attack and kill Hindus. And murdering Ripon Saha is a continuation of Genocide of Hindus in Muslim majority Bangladesh where 91% population is Muslim by religion.
