On the morning of Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the dead body of Dipan Malakar was found floating in a pond in Ekasantosh village in Sylhet Division. The owner of the pond first saw the body and informed Dipan’s uncle and locals. Later, neighbors came to the scene and informed the police.
It is learnt that Dipan Malakar, the eldest son of Krishna Malakar, a resident of Ekasantosh village in Kamarchak union of the upazila, lived alone in his house. Dipan lived alone in the house because his mother, father, and younger brother live away from home due to their distant work locations.
According to the neighbors, Dipan had not been seen in the area for the last two days and his house was also locked. This has raised concerns among the locals.
Upon receiving the information, the police quickly reached the spot, recovered the body and took it to the police station. The incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the area. Meanwhile, the locals have strongly demanded that the administration uncover the exact cause of such a tragic incident and quickly identify the culprits and bring them to justice.
Human Rights Analysis: Dipan murder is a part and parcel of Genocide of Hindus orchestrated by majority Muslims with full support from Bangladesh Government. Based on the violent attacks on Hindus across Bangladesh, Dipan is murdered by some local Muslims. Murder of Hindu religious minorities has become a rampant occurrence and almost a daily incident in Islamic Bangladesh since August 2024. Disappearance of a Hindu person and then discovery of the dead body is one of the many ways Hindus are being murdered. Other brutal methods Muslims are using to murder Hindus include hacking, lynching, burning alive, slitting throat, ramming using vehicle, and suffocation followed by staged hanging of the dead body. Alongside murdering Hindus, Muslims have been persecuting Hindus in all possible ways with a clear objective to exterminate Hindus from Bangladesh. They are physically assaulting Hindus gravely injuring them, raping Hindu females, abducting Hindu daughters, occupying Hindu houses and lands, looting Hindu houses and businesses, arson attack on Hindu houses, death threats, desecrating Hindu temples, and converting Hindus to Muslim using coercion.

সিলেট বিভাগের মৌলভীবাজার জেলার রাজনগর উপজেলায় দিপন মালাকার নামে হিন্দু এক যুবকের মরদেহ উদ্ধারকে কেন্দ্র করে এলাকায় চাঞ্চল্যের সৃষ্টি হয়েছে।
জানা যায়, উপজেলার কামারচাক ইউনিয়নের একাসন্তোষ গ্রামের বাসিন্দা কৃষ্ণ মালাকারের বড় ছেলে দিপন মালাকার নিজ বাড়িতে একাই বসবাস করতেন। তার মা, বাবা ও ছোট ভাই নিজ নিজ কর্মস্থলে অবস্থান করায় তিনি একাই বাড়িতে থাকতেন।
প্রতিবেশীদের ভাষ্যমতে, গত দুই দিন ধরে দিপন মালাকারকে এলাকায় দেখা যাচ্ছিল না এবং তার ঘরও বন্ধ ছিল। বিষয়টি নিয়ে স্থানীয়দের মাঝে উদ্বেগ তৈরি হয়।
মঙ্গলবার ১৭ মার্চ ২০২৬ইং সকালে একাসন্তোষ গ্রামের একটি পুকুরে দিপন মালাকারের মরদেহ ভেসে উঠতে দেখা যায়। পুকুরের মালিক প্রথমে মরদেহটি দেখতে পেয়ে দিপনের মামা ও স্থানীয়দের খবর দেন। পরে প্রতিবেশীরা ঘটনাস্থলে এসে পুলিশকে অবহিত করেন।
খবর পেয়ে পুলিশ দ্রুত ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছে মরদেহ উদ্ধার করে থানায় নিয়ে যায়। এ ঘটনায় এলাকায় শোকের ছায়া নেমে এসেছে।
এদিকে, এমন মর্মান্তিক ঘটনার সঠিক কারণ উদঘাটন এবং দোষীদের দ্রুত চিহ্নিত করে আইনের আওতায় আনার জন্য প্রশাসনের কাছে জোর দাবি জানিয়েছেন স্থানীয়রা।
