The dairy farm owned by a Hindu man Swapan Bhattacharya and his family looted. The victim family has lost everything, injured, and on the run fearing for life. The narrative of the attack by the victims:
I am Swapan Bhattacharya, (Village Shatrujitpur) Magura Sadar, Magura. Shubo Dairy Farm is near my house which is registered from Animal Husbandry Department. The dairy farm is under bank loan.
Last 5th August 2024, Monday from 7 am to 2 am, the poor broke the wall on the north side of the farm and entered inside and took away 47 cows and 12 calves. At that time, when my wife Sheila Bhattacharya and I resisted, the poor attacked us and abused us as “Malauans” (a derogatory term used by Muslims for Hindus) and threatened to kill us.
I am the priest of Shatrujitpur Mahasshman Ashram those cows are my only source of livelihood. I am currently homeless, unable to go back to my home due to the fear of death.
I am also a citizen of Bangladesh, I have the right to live in this country like other citizens. I also have the right to be tried by other citizens.
