In the broad daylight around 3 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, a local Muslim man named Jishan (last name missing) hacked a father of three young children, 35 year old Hindu family man named Ganesh Pal to death. A critically injured Ganesh succumbed to his injuries after he was rushed to a local hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Ganesh was murdered because he failed to pay extortion money to his Muslim neighbors including one named Jishan who demanded the money from him. Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Chhomi Uddin said the murder took place in Dakshin Sahityika Palli area near the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) camp around 3:00pm.
Ganesh was a small business owner by profession, a small tea stall owner at the local Borobazar area of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Town as reported by local Hindus on video statement posted on Facebook. He was a disciplined and hard working family man. His wife Shefali Pal and his brother Ashish Pal alleged that their neighbor Jishan had demanded extortion money and had earlier disputed with them over the matter. Local Hindus on Facebook video reported that over the time they have made numerous complaints to the local Police as local Muslims have been violently threatening them and extorting money for a very long time. Yet Police did NOT take any action against the Muslim extortionists exposing the Hindu victims completely vulnerable at the mercy of the extortionists.
Human Rights Analysis:
It can be noted that Police did not disclose the murderer Jishan’s family name or full name despite the fact that Police know his house location and residential address. This omission of full name is gravely concerning because this is an indicator that the Police are not considering the murder incident with proper seriousness. Since August 5, 2024, hundreds of Hindu men, women, children have been murdered by local Muslim people across Bangladesh. Thousands of Hindu houses and businesses have been violently attacked, looted, vandalized, or burned down by local Muslims.
The violent atmosphere is created for Hindus in Bangladesh by no one else but Bangladesh Government. The objective is to terrorize and wipe out Hindus from their ancestral country. The law enforcement Police and Military Forces have attacked and murdered Hindu citizens since August 2024. They have also arrested and imprisoned hundreds of Hindu Human Rights Activists because they peacefully protested against the violence against Hindus.
