On September 16, 2025, the dead body of renowned paddy trader Kshitish Chandra Das was recovered in the Jaflong area. Mr. Das was a Hindu by religion and was a resident of Kathalia village, Pukra union, Baniachang upazilla of Habiganj district in Bangladesh.
It was reported that he had set out of his home around 10 AM the previous day Monday, September 15, towards Habiganj to address some business related matters. Since then, his family did not have any communication with him. His mobile phone was shut off as his family called him multiple times attempting to connect with him. His relatives, friends, and the acquaintances also were not able to provide any information on his whereabout.
At the end of extensive search, his dead body was recovered from Jaflang that has shocked everyone. The incident has cast a shadow of grief & fear over the family, relatives, and the entire area that has silenced them.
***Similar to all recent such murder of Hindu minorities since Aug 2024, the post mortem report will most likely document his murder as a suicide. The murderers, the hospitals, the court of law, the police, and the military of Dr. Yunus government – all are working together in this expedited GENOCIDE of Hindus in Bangladesh.***
HUMAN RIGHTS ANALYSIS: This is NOT an isolated murder. It is a continuation of the systemic persecution of Hindu religious minorities in Bangladesh. It is the part & parcel of an expedited GENOCIDE of Hindus in Bangladesh since August 2024. All forms of persecution including murder, looting, arson attack, land and property grabbing of Hindu religious minorities across Bangladesh continue unabated. The extent of Hindu persecution has increased manifold with full support from Dr. Muhammad Yunus led government since the ouster of the previous Sheikh Hasina regime as of August 5, 2024. Hindus, the native people of the land, are living in fear in their own ancestral country as the government is directly involved in denying the basic Human rights to Hindu people. We, the human rights activists at the HRCB, desperately urge the Chief of Bangladesh Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus, as well as the Western leaders who are the protectors of the human rights across the world, to help save the persecuted Hindu people of Bangladesh.
