The body of a retired college teacher was recovered from his residence in the Boro Bazar area of Netrakona district town.
Police discovered the body on Friday at around 11:30am from under a bed in the teacher’s house.
The deceased was identified as Dilip Kumar Roy, 66, a retired teacher of the Agriculture Department at Abu Abbas Degree College in Netrakona district town.
The information was confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police and Netrakona police spokesperson Lutfor Rahman.
Following the incident, both the district police and the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) have launched an investigation.
According to police and locals, Dilip Kumar Roy’s wife, Niva Rani Saha, had been staying at her son’s house in Dhaka for a few days.
During this time, he was alone at home.
On Friday morning around 10am, Niva returned to find the main gate of the house locked.
With the help of locals, she entered the house and discovered the inner grille gate also locked.
After breaking the lock, they found her husband’s body lying under the bed.
Upon receiving the information, police recovered the body and sent it to Netrakona Modern Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Additional Superintendent of Police Lutfor Rahman said that there were injury marks on the victim’s head.
Considering the injuries and the surrounding circumstances, preliminary investigations suggest that Dilip Kumar Roy was murdered.
However, further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the murder.
