In the morning of Tues, Mar 11, 2005, rural dentist Mr. Paul Majumder and his wife Mrs. Anita Vaidya, a nurse by profession, left their house and went to work like any other day. Their only child, their son Pias Majumdar, a promising 22 year old youth, was at home that time.
Paul Majumder returned home early afternoon at around 12:30 PM and first discovered the cupboard drawers open and everything scattered. He started screaming as he found their only son Pias laying in the bed with his hands, feet, and face tied. Hearing Paul’s scream, the neighbors arrived and rushed to take Pias to the local Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him dead. Neighbor Salman Majumder said, “Hearing the screams, we rushed to their home and saw Pias’ hands, feet and face tied. We quickly sent him to the hospital. We saw all the furniture in Khokon Majumder’s house broken and lying in a messy state, so we informed the police.”
In addition to murdering their only son Pias, the robbers looted gold ornaments, cash, and valuables from the house, as stated by the family’s relatives. Kotalipara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad said, “The body has been recovered and sent to the Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Further legal action will be taken after investigation.” Gopalganj Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman visited the scene, the OC said. Source- dhakatribune.com.
