In the early morning of Sunday, February 15, 2026, a businessman came to open his shop located at Pathatula Tarapur Tea Estate in Sylhet City as his daily routine. He noticed smoke coming out from inside the nearby Shree Shree Gour-Nitai Hindu Temple. He understood the situation and urgently communicated on the arson attack with the locals who then rushed and put out the fire. Local Hindus are feeling extremely worried and angry due to the arson attack.
The sacred Hindu religious book Bhagabad Gita, other sacred books, Photos of Hindu deities, and all worshipping items inside the temple are fully destroyed by the arson attack. The interior of the temple also is extensively damaged by the fire.
The Police on information visited the fire damaged temple and collected evidences of the damages. However, the local police station stated that a written compliant was not yet submitted to the Police.
Local devotees stated that Hindu worships and religious programs are being held regularly at this temple for the past three years. The devotees expressed extreme worry fearing for their safety and security due to this sudden fire incident. They are suspecting this was as a planned arson attack and demanding proper investigation of the incident. It can be noted that alongside many other forms of violent attacks including murders, arson attacks on Hindu temples and houses somewhere in Bangladesh is almost a daily routine for local Muslims.
The local Hindu community leaders and residents voiced their strong condemnation of the incident. They have demanded that the criminals involved in this arson attack be identified, arrested, and punished without delay. They also demanded that the local Police strengthen the law & order situation of the temple and the surrounding area to prevent such attacks in the future.

Human Rights NOTES: The Police were informed by the victims in a timely manner and the Police visited the damages and collected evidences. The victims expressed their grave concerns and worry to the police about their safety and security. Yet the Police did not file a criminal case to identify and arrest the arsonists. Instead, the Police is waiting for the victims to file a case with them. There is NO REASON for POLICE not to file a case. When Muslims are victims of any such attacks, Police does file a criminal case on behalf of the victims. This position of the Police is a proof that the Police is protecting the Muslim attackers by acting against Hindus. The fact is that Muslim attackers often reattack the victim Hindus with a much bigger force when the victims file a Police case. Fearing further attacks, Hindu victims most of the time refrain from filing any criminal cases. And that’s the trick the Government is using encouraging and approving Muslims to attack Hindus. This is a clear position of the Government to destroy Hindus. It is a well known tactic Bangladesh Government is using in this expedited GENOCIDE of Hindus in the hands of Muslims.
