Murder: Hindu man Sushil Kumar Sarkar hacked to death

On Saturday September 21, 2024 at around 6:15 PM, a group of assailants attacked 57-year old Hindu man Sushil Kumar Sarkar near a tea shop in Kataikhali area of Goalanda upazila. Sushil, son of late Monindra Nath Sarkar from Haulikheutil area, was shot and hacked to death on the spot.

The victim’s younger brother, Sunil Sarkar, reported that he rushed to the scene after being informed that his brother had been attacked. He found Sushil lying near a tea shop and immediately took him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

In this connection, President of Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) Dhaka Adv Rabindra Ghosh contacted Rajbari district Superintendent of Police (SP) over the phone. Goalanda police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mr. Rakibul Islam said he was informed on this unfortunate situation and police took Police Information Report (F.I.R) required for necessary legal action against the murderers. Police is yet to arrest the murderers in this regard.

BDMW is very much shocked at the brutal murder of Mr. Sushil Kumar Sarkar and demands deterrent punishment of the assailants.

The news media Daily Observer Bangladesh also published the murder incident by terming the victim as an “Extremist” which is very concerning. Historically persecuted Hindus in Bangladesh are often falsely accused and implicated in legal cases.
