Beating, forced resignation, & death threat to Headmaster Nitai Chandra Das

On Sunday morning, August 25, 2024, A gang of by 30-40 people under the leadership of Jahangir, a teacher of a nearby school, violently attacked Mr. Nitai Chandra Das, the headmaster of Majidpur Dayahata Kofil Uddin Chowdhury Institute. Mr. Das was in his office room conducting a meeting with the assistant teachers on how to collect donations to help the flood affected people at the time of the attack.

The attackers removed all the assistant teachers, closed the door of the office room, and then indiscriminately started beating Mr. Das in his head, neck, face, ear, and all over his body. The 30-40 people strong gang beat him in three rounds in his office room and forced resignation to sign his resignation letter along with a few blank paper sheets. The attackers also grabbed a total of Tk. 63,000 including Tk. 58,000 school fund.

The attackers then brought Mr. Das downstairs on the school premises, threatened to kill him, and then ousted him through the school gate.

The next day, August 26th, a severely beaten Mr. Das took treatment at the local medical facility and submitted a petition to the school management committee on the attack and requested for medical leave.
