Press Release: Save Minorities in Bangladesh- We Ask for Justice
Human Rights Center for Bangladesh (HRCB) is very concerned on the attacks on minorities and their properties which started after removing the government by popular Anti-discrimination student movement. Soon after the fall of government, several homes, businesses and religious temples belong to Hindu minority set on fire, and number of people belong minorities are physically attacked and beaten to death. HRCB condemns the gruesome killing of minorities and destroying their livelihood by setting fire to their properties. We condemn the cycle of violence against Hindus and other minorities of Bangladesh.

- Haradhan Roy Hara, a Hindu Councilor of Rangpur City Corporation, was among the 100 people killed in the violent protests across Bangladesh on Sunday. Locals reports indicated that homes and temples belonging to Hindus, including ISKCON and Kali temples, were targeted, forcing devotees to seek shelter. Along with him, Kajal Roy, another Hindu councilor from Rangpur, also lost his life in the violence.

We demand that the caretaker government led by Armed Forces of Bangladesh-
- bring the killers of innocent Hindu Minorities to justice and give the criminals exemplary punishment,
- bring criminals to justice who injured minorities, vandalized temples, burned houses and shops belong to Hindu minorities,
- provide monetary compensations to the families of victims who are attacked by mobs or injured,
- provide funds (for rebuilding) to temples those are destroyed or damaged by culprits,
- prompt action from Police and Administration to protect Hindu minority homes, properties, and their places of worship,
- uphold the basic rights of minorities so that they can go with their day to day life without fear,
- create a government commission to track hate crimes against minorities (past and present and future) in Bangladesh and make the reports available publicly
We call upon President Joseph Biden, VP Kamala Harris, Republican Presidential candidate Donald J. Trump, Republican VP candidate JD Vance, US Congress, US Senate and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to issue a statement condemning the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. Please send your delegation to Bangladesh and demand prompt actions from the government of Bangladesh to protect minorities.
