Mayhem on Hindu Village at Lalmonirhat and appeal for help

On august 5, 2024 the extremist Muslims attacked Hindu families at Burasardubi village of Fakirpara union, Hatibhanga, Lalmonirhat. The mob burnt down all the house of Hindu minorities and lotted all their belonging including all the gold jewelries, valuables, foods, rice, utensils and livestock animals’ cows, goats. The mob also threatened to kill them. The villagers initially took shelter in the bush and their neighbor Muslim families on that night. Those Muslim neighbors also were attacked by Mob on later dates. Hindu villagers spent several nights without any shelter. These incidents were well documented by our volunteers and those volunteers also got multiple life threat by the those Muslims. These local Muslims also grabbed the land for Hindu community funeral site and personal lands namely of Niran, Giran, Sattaya, Tapan and Vanu Chandra family. During the fire, one elderly woman, mother of Sattaya Chandra, could not be escaped and burnt and died. Local police were informed and was not able to get any protection form the police, was not able to file GD. Local police did not give permission for any funeral of the villager in the local SHAWSHAN including that elderly woman.

Most of the villagers are very poor and day laborer. With loosing everything in one night, they were very devasted, tried to escape to neighbor country India which border is few miles from the village. One villager was compelled to send their teenaged girl to India and arranged marriage to a local man. ISKON helped 19 families to rebuild their houses and one organization from Oregon USA helped with 10,000 Taka for each family which was distributed in October/November. With little hope they restarted their life again, cultivated corps but unfortunately the Mob attacked again and lotted all the crops recently. For the last 2-3 months these families are starving. Some of them went other districts to find jobs without much success.

There are 11 Muslim families who are also affected of these hate crimes as they gave shelters to the affected Hindus.
