10-year-old Hindu child Kotha Moni Devnath, daughter of Mr. Chandan Devnath of Doulatpur, Bangura Bazar Police Station, Muradpur, of Cumilla district was sexually assaulted by 35-year-old Muslim man Mr. Sheikh Akhtar HOSSAIN (rapist) with aid of two Hindu men named Shamus Chandra Natta and Gour Moni Biswas (abettors).<\/p>\n
The medical report of the victim revealed that she was brutally sexually assaulted by Sheikh Akhtar HOSSAIN. This statement is given by victim herself and her statement is video recorded. Statements of father and step mother was also recorded.<\/p>\n
Victim\u2019s father Mr. Chandan Devnath along with his father went Bangura Bazar police station for recording case but the Police Officer-In-Charge O.C of Bangura Bazar Police Station refused to accept FIR. Thereafter he went to \u201cNari O Sh\u00edshu Nirjaton Court\u201d in Cumilla and filed CP case no. 394\/24 at the “Nari Sh\u00edshu Nirjaton” court in Cumilla against the above three accused. A General Diary (GD) was registered by police after the case was filed by\u00a0the Nari Sh\u00edshu Nirjaton court.\u00a0 It was said that the Court has now directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI),\u00a0Cumilla,\u00a0 for investigation.<\/p>\n
I, Advocate Rabindra Ghosh, President of Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW), have assisted the victim’s family to demand justice from the Court. The matter is now under investigation with PBI Cumilla. I, along with Joy Sarkar of BDMW visited Bangura Bazar police station, talked with the O.C. S.P (Officer-in-Charge, Superintendent of Police) Cumilla requesting to take the necessary legal actions to protect the rights of the Minority child. The rapist, a powerful local Muslim man Sheikh Akhtar HOSSAIN, and his associates tried to convince our team for an amicable compromise that we refused.<\/p>\n
