In the morning of Sunday, January 19, 2025, the dead body of a Hindu female youth, a police constable employed with Bangladesh Police, named Trishna Biswas<\/strong> was discovered inside the women’s barracks of Potuakhali Police Lines. The victim is a 22-year young trainee Police Constable, a Hindu religious minority. She joined Bangladesh Police as a new recruit in 2023 and her Bangladesh Police employee ID is\u00a0(BP-0323251196). She was residing at the barracks as part of her police job.<\/p>\n

The photo of her dead body posted on Facebook clearly shows her body hanging from ceiling fan by her neck with her lower legs knee down rested on pillows in a bed. This photo is a testament that this is NOT a suicide by hanging.<\/p>\n

However, Bangladesh Police declared that she was mentally disturbed due to family issues. Patuakhali Additional Superintendent of Police (Finance and Administration) Ahmad Mainul Hasan,\u00a0citing Trishna’s roommates, said \u201cA few days ago, the female constable sought medical attention, but she did not seek treatment at the hospital even doctor advised her to be admitted to the hospital.\u201d\u00a0 Bangladeshi daily\u00a0DhakaTribune<\/a>\u00a0published this news.<\/p>\n

Constable Trishna Biswas was the daughter of Krishna Biswas from Purba Kamalapur village of Dasar upazila in Madaripur district, Bangladesh.<\/p>\n

A good samaritan Ms. Shayala Khan Banna spoke to Trishna’s family and posted the summary of the conversation on Facebook<\/a>\u00a0in Bangla language. The English summary translation is as below:<\/p>\n

At 8:30 AM on Sunday, January 19, 2o25, Patuakhali police station called Trishna’s mother and told her that Trishna has committed suicide. However, just an hour and half earlier at 7 AM on the same day, Sunday, Trishna\u00a0made a phone call to her maternal uncle who works at BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh).\u00a0Trishna requested her uncle in that call to arrange and transfer her from Patuakhali to another location as soon as possible because she wasn’t feeling safe there.\u00a0The uncle and mother also communicated that Trishna never suffered any mental instability or any psychiatric problem, she never was diagnosed with such issues.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Trishna’s family tried all day on Sunday but couldn’t get Trishna’s postmortem done, they were not allowed to see Trishna’s body. The family is told that the dead body cannot be handed over to them until the Police Sub-Inspector (SI) in charge of this case grants permission.\u00a0<\/span>Despite the family’s repeated requests to the SI, the SI said that neither the post mortem nor the handover of the body to the family can be done without the approval from the upper management of police.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trishna’s maternal uncle stated that Trisha was a grounded personality – a brilliant, diligent, determined, optimistic and happy individual. She worked hard and financed her own educational expenses by giving private tuition to other students. She was qualified for the police constable job at a very young age and joined in Bangladesh Police Force in 2023.<\/p>\n
